February 15, 2002 – The Brazilian government has made numerous commitments to U.S. government officials over the years – most recently in March 2001 – to address the core problems of extremely high piracy rates and inadequate enforcement. And yet there has been little concrete action by Brazil to address these issues.

IIPA 2001 Special Report on Brazil
February 16, 2001 – The IIPA recommends that Brazil be elevated to the Special 301 Priority Watch List this year. We also strongly support the U.S. government’s initiation of a review of Brazil’s intellectual property rights practices under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program, a U.S. trade law.

February 18, 2000 – Given the growing levels of optical media piracy in Brazil, the market for legitimate copyright products is being decimated. IIPA believes Brazil should be elevated to the Priority Watch List.
